Membership Policies

Hunter Pottery Studio 18195 Euclid Street, Fountain Valley, CA 92708 Policy ID: HPS-MEM-001 · Version: 1.0 · Updated: September 24, 2026

These policies explain how studio membership, shared space, firing, and monthly billing work. Your selected plan and initial charge will be shown separately before you enroll. Please read these policies together with any studio safety waiver provided at enrollment.

1. Your membership and studio access

Membership is for one named person. It includes 24-hour member access, use of shared studio equipment and work areas, one assigned shelf, studio mid-fire glazes for use on site, and bisque firing of the member's own approved work. Access may be briefly restricted for maintenance, safety, emergencies, or scheduled activities. During classes, some wheels and work areas are reserved for instructors and students; class times are posted at the studio or on the website.

Memberships, entry credentials, and shelves may not be shared or transferred. Do not let another person enter using your access credential. Members may use only the equipment for which they have received instruction or authorization. Studio staff operate the kilns unless a member has specific written permission.

2. Plans and charges

• Regular three-foot shelf: $195 per month for a 36 × 24-inch shelf with more than 12 inches of vertical clearance.

• Three-foot top shelf: $220 per month for a 36 × 24-inch shelf with open height above it.

• Included: 24-hour member access, use of shared work areas, bisque firing of approved member work, and use of studio mid-fire glazes on site.

• Additional purchases: Clay and other supplies are purchased separately. Glaze firing is billed by weight at $1.25 per pound for pieces up to 12 inches in every dimension, or $2.25 per pound if any dimension is over 12 inches. Ask staff about size classification before submitting an unusual piece.

The studio records firing weights and provides an itemized record of additional charges. Firing and supply purchases you authorize are added to your monthly bill. Rates and included benefits are those presented and accepted at enrollment; we will notify members before a material change or price increase takes effect.

3. Clay, glaze, and firing

The studio fires to cone 6 only. Work submitted for firing must be your own and made from clay and glaze approved for the studio's firing schedule. Ask staff to approve any clay or glaze brought from outside before using or submitting it, and provide its manufacturer and firing range. Do not submit another person's work or low-fire materials. Studio glazes stay in the studio and may not be taken home.

Label and prepare work as instructed. Use a protective cookie or other kiln protection when staff request one. The studio schedules firings with care, but kiln loads, glazes, and clay bodies can produce differences in color, fit, shape, or finish. We cannot guarantee a particular outcome or completion date. Please send photos and details to the studio if a result needs review. If undisclosed or incompatible materials damage studio equipment or other work, we may seek the reasonable cost of repair after documenting the cause and discussing it with you. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be waived.

4. Dust control, cleaning, and safety

Do not sand pottery in the shared studio, whether wet or dry. Do not dry sweep, use compressed air to clean, or store, weigh, or mix dry clay or glaze powders without staff authorization in a designated area. Clean tools and surfaces using studio-approved damp methods; keep clay and glaze waste out of ordinary plumbing. Reclaim clay only in designated areas, and leave wedging tables clean and available for other members.

Follow staff safety instructions, keep exits and kiln areas clear, and report spills, damaged equipment, injuries, or concerns promptly. Use the studio and its equipment responsibly. No pets are permitted, except service animals as required by applicable law.

5. Shelves, shared space, and guests

Keep work and supplies within your assigned shelf or another location approved by staff. Do not leave work on shared tables or another member's shelf. Clean your wheel, table, tools, splash pan, and nearby floor when finished. Share equipment and workspace respectfully, take calls outside, and be considerate of classes and other members.

Guests need staff approval before entering member work areas, including during after-hours access. A guest may not use a member's shelf, tools, or access privileges unless the studio has separately authorized the activity. Unsafe, disruptive, or repeated rule violations may lead to restricted access or termination of membership; we will give notice when practicable.

6. Monthly billing and payment authorization

Membership renews monthly until canceled. The regular renewal date is the first day of each month. If you begin partway through a month, the initial amount and the next renewal date will be shown before you authorize payment. A valid payment method is required for recurring membership charges and for itemized firing or supply charges you incur. The total can vary from month to month because of those additional purchases; the plan price itself does not change without advance notice.

Enrollment requires a separate affirmative authorization for recurring billing. We will provide a copy of the accepted plan, price, billing terms, and cancellation instructions that you can keep. If a payment fails, please update your payment method promptly; access may be paused while an undisputed balance remains unpaid.

7. Canceling membership and collecting your work

You can cancel renewal at any time by emailing info@hunterpotterystudio.com with the subject Cancel my membership, or by requesting cancellation in person at the studio. We will confirm the cancellation in writing. If online enrollment is offered, we will also provide a direct online cancellation method. No meeting, phone call, additional form, or shelf clearance is required to stop future renewal charges.

Cancellation stops the next unpaid renewal. Membership access ordinarily continues through the end of the already paid month. Monthly membership fees are not prorated after a billing period starts, except where required by law or where the studio agrees otherwise. Charges for clay, supplies, or firing already requested remain payable. Please remove your belongings from your shelf by the end of your paid access period and arrange pickup of any work still being fired. Uncollected property is handled under the studio's separately communicated pickup procedure; it does not restart a canceled membership.

8. Questions and updates

Contact info@hunterpotterystudio.com or visit the studio at 18195 Euclid Street, Fountain Valley, CA 92708 with a question about a charge, firing result, access, or these policies. We may update studio rules to address safety and operations. Material changes to membership terms or prices will be communicated before they apply, with cancellation instructions.
